Hamilton Island is fringed by coral and is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. One of Queensland’s Whitsunday group of islands, Hamilton Island is located south of neighbouring Whitsunday Island.

Our Story

The meaning of qualia is “a collection of deeper sensory experiences” - a philosophy that defines every stay. Set on the secluded northern tip of Hamilton Island, qualia is a private world of understated luxury in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

Opened in 2007 and designed by Australian architect Chris Beckingham, qualia was conceived as a contemporary Australian sanctuary — one that blurs the boundaries between indoors and out, and invites a deeper connection to the surrounding landscape.
