qualia takes pride of place on the 2015 US Condé Nast Traveler Gold List

04 Feb 2015

Hamilton Island’s luxury resort, qualia’s coveted position as one the best resorts in the world has again been reinforced with qualia announced as the only Australian luxury lodge to feature on the US Condé Nast Traveler’s newly reinvented 2015 Gold List in the design category.

For the first time ever, the newly reinvented Gold List was hand selected by Condé Nast Traveler editors, writers and network of influencers – a selection process which adds additional prestige to globally celebrated award. A prerequisite for selecting Gold List 2015 contenders was a property’s high standard of service, a unique expression of luxury, and world class display of beauty. Yet what earned each winner their final place on the list was the unforgettable special touches that bring a hotel’s ethos to life.

“The result,” says US Condé Nast Traveler Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, “is a group-written love letter to the properties that inspire memories that linger long after we’ve left them. Like travel itself, the best hotel experiences often can’t be measured by a point system—they’re as ineffable as memory itself.”
Leading the qualia team behind this family owned Island and resort, Matthew Taverner - qualia’s General Manager, said: “We are thrilled the Condé Nast Traveller team, one of the most respected and well travelled in the industry, have bestowed us this honour.
“The Oatley family’s vision for qualia has always been to create an adults-only, luxury sanctuary that combines the beauty of its Great Barrier Reef location with understated elegance, complete privacy and bespoke, authentic experiences. Such an accolade is testament to our team who continue to uphold this unique vision and do so to a world class standard.”
Situated on Hamilton Island's sun-drenched northern-most tip with breathtaking views of the surrounding Whitsunday Islands and tranquil Coral Sea, qualia’s distinctive design combines a sense of space, openness and harmony that draws the outside in. Set amongst native Eucalypts, the 60 luxurious pavilions are an indulgent space to unwind in, with either a sundeck or private infinity edge plunge pool.

qualia also hosts several special events for its guests throughout the year, including the popular Australian Ballet ‘Pas de Deux in Paradise’ outdoor performance, Weekends of Wonderment event series featuring internationally acclaimed experts creating bespoke, hands on guest experiences and the annual Audi Hamilton Island Race Week – the largest offshore sailing regatta in the Southern Hemisphere.
